For the first time since 2017, the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series (NCTS) is returning to New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS) on Sept. 20, and fans won’t want to miss a second of the action. With playoff implications on the line, expect aggressive racing, bold strategies and thrilling moments as the field battles for a spot in the next round.
High-Stakes Playoff Racing
This isn’t just a regular-season event – it’s a cutoff race in the NCTS Playoffs, meaning only eight drivers will advance after the checkered flag waves. Every lap counts, and with NHMS’s flat 1.058-mile oval known for tight racing, expect intense side-by-side battles, late-race drama and possible a photo finish.
“The Magic Mile” has a reputation for producing unpredictable racing, and with championship hopes on the line, drivers will be pushing their trucks to the limit. Defending NCTS champion Ty Majeski knows just how important this race will be for his title defense.
“It’s a huge race for us,” said Majeski. “The good news is we’re going to have open practice I assume, so we’ll be able to get there and get the truck dialed in and be able to make changes that we wouldn’t normally make, so that’ll help a lot.”
A Proving Ground for NASCAR’s Future Stars
The NCTS has played a key role in shaping the careers of NASCAR’s biggest names. Past NHMS Truck Series winners include Kyle Busch, Christopher Bell, William Byron, Austin Dillon and Cole Custer. The track’s unique layout demands both skill and strategy, making it an ideal place for young drivers to showcase their talent on a national stage.
With its combination of short-track intensity and high-speed racing, NHMS levels the playing field, often leading to surprise winners and thrilling finishes. This year’s field is filled with hungry up-and-comers looking to make their mark.
A Weekend Packed with NASCAR Excitement
The NCTS race is just one part of a must-see tripleheader weekend at NHMS. Fans will also get to witness the Mohegan Sun 100 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race on Doubleheader Saturday, Sept. 20, featuring some of the best short-track drivers in the country. Then, on Sept. 21, the NASCAR Cup Series playoff race will bring the sport’s biggest stars to “The Magic Mile” for a crucial postseason battle.
Beyond the on-track action, NHMS offers exciting pre-race activities, driver appearances, live music, interactive exhibits and plenty of family-friendly fun. Whether you’re a longtime NASCAR fan or experiencing your first race, this weekend delivers something for everyone.
