New Hampshire Motor Speedway is already buzzing with the roar of motorcycles, the squeals of tires and the hum of engines of all kinds. The property also serves as the location for bicycle rides, a 5K and Boy Scout Jamboree.
"Many people think we're just NASCAR," started David McGrath, New Hampshire Motor Speedway's executive vice president and general manager, "but there are so many other exciting events happening every single week from the first weekend in April straight through October. There's always something on the track or somewhere on our property to come out and see with your family."
The 2018 season opened with the BMW Club of America - White Mountain Chapter holding a meet. They provide members with the opportunity to meet other BMW lovers and to improve their enjoyment of and education in their ultimate driving machines. Check out the Boston chapter when they're at NHMS May 19, June 2, Aug. 29 and Sept. 15.
The Sunapee Racing Team, a New England-based cycling team, holds their races at NHMS every Thursday, now - Sept. 13, with the exception of June 14 and July 19. They participate in and promote the sport of competitive cycling with a keen emphasis on its long term viability and growth.
Club Loose keeps drifting alive in New Hampshire as they lay down rubber with their signature style. Everyone comes to Club Loose events for one thing - to have a blast! See their tires slide across the pavement April 28-29, May 12-13 and 26-27, June 30- July 1, July 28-29, Aug. 18-19, Sept. 8-9 and 29-30 and October 27-28.
New Hampshire's fastest racing on two wheels returns to NHMS when the Loudon Road Race Series kicks off April 28 and 29. The LRRS features seven weekends of Championship Cup Series motorcycle racing on the 1.6-mile road course. Over the years, LRRS has developed a reputation for having some of the closest and most intense racing on two wheels. The series will continue May 19-20, June 15-17, July 7-8, Aug. 18-19, Sept. 8-9 and Sept. 29-30.
Teams of college students from all over the world will come to NHMS April 29-May 3 for the annual Formula Hybrid competition. They'll build hybrid cars with the overall competition being an endurance race.
The 28th annual New Hampshire D.A.R.E. Classic 5k Road Race returns to NHMS on May 4. This family-friendly event features a one-mile fun run for the kids followed by a 5k road race for the adults. Bring your family to take part or cheer on the participants while enjoying demonstrations by the New Hampshire State Police K9 Unit, Drill Team, Aviation Unit and Motorcycle Unit, and you can also get your face painted and meet Daren the D.A.R.E. Lion.
The Daniel Webster Council of the Boy Scouts of America will host their triennial jamboree May 4-6. This event will bring together Scouts, Scouters and families from throughout New Hampshire and neighboring states for a weekend of fun, adventure and excitement as they take part in repelling, mountain biking, kayaking, backpacking, camping, signaling and more.
NHMS's McGrath will join former NASCAR driver and NBC Sports racing analyst Kyle Petty as he revs up his Charity Ride Across America for the 24th year in a row. The Ride will start in Portland, Maine on May 5 and end in Greensboro, N.C. on May 11, Petty will lead 225 participants through nine states in seven days. The Ride will travel 1,200 miles to raise funds and awareness for Victory Junction - a camp dedicated to providing life-changing camping experiences for children with chronic or life-threatening illnesses.
