Spring is in the air and motorcycle riders are counting down the days until riding season begins. With all things motorcycle on our minds, riders can rejoice now that Harley-Davidson is officially back in a big way at New Hampshire Motor Speedway during Laconia Motorcycle Week, June 8-16.
"There's no way to fully understand the freedom of riding a Harley-Davidson until you actually ride one," said David McGrath, executive vice president and general manager of New Hampshire Motor Speedway and Harley-Davidson owner. "We're looking forward to welcoming such a legendary manufacturer as Harley-Davidson back to New Hampshire Motor Speedway for Motorcycle Week and giving riders the opportunity to experience the thrill of a ride on our seven-mile demo course."
Harley-Davidson is the newest addition to the speedway's demo ride route which already includes Indian and Yamaha. The free demo rides will take motorcycle enthusiasts on a seven-mile on- and off-property experience to test out the latest and greatest that the top motorcycle manufacturers in the world have to offer. This allows riders to break free from the crowds with plenty of riding room, and of course, incredible bikes. Demo rides will be available June 10-15 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
In addition to demo rides, Harley-Davidson will showcase the latest apparel, gear and 2019 motorcycles. Members of Harley Owners Group, the official riding club of Harley-Davidson, can visit the H.O.G. booth inside the Harley-Davidson display to receive their commemorative rally token.
On-Track Racing
Let's face it, New Hampshire Motor Speedway is known for its racing roots throughout the year and Motorcycle Week is no different.
The speedway's newest racing surface is a 0.25-mile dirt track named The Flat Track which will host the inaugural Laconia Short Track on June 15. Put on by American Flat Track, "America's Original Extreme Sport," race fans have a new reason to enjoy the thrill of racing in Loudon. So much bar-banging, tire-rubbing action will be packed onto The Flat Track when these pro riders enter the arena.
The 96th annual Loudon Classic Middleweight Grand Prix has moved back to Father's Day, June 16. Known as the longest-running motorcycle race in America, the Classic has been held on-site since long before the speedway was built, when it was simply a road course known as Bryar Motorsports Park. The weekend will include the Loudon Road Race Series competing in round three of Championship Cup Series racing along with the Granite State Legends Cars, which are powered by motorcycle engines.
Off-Track Highlights
Motorcycle nirvana will be in full swing with a vendor mall and a plethora of entertainment provided by Katancha and new camping options making the speedway the home base for riders visiting for the rally.
Whether it's dry camping, spots with water and power hookups, amazing views of the racetrack or infield spots with the opportunity to take a few laps on-track, new camping options have been created. The speedway is centrally located on Route 106, the main corridor to Laconia, and just 20 minutes south of Rally Headquarters, making it the perfect spot for your home away from home during Motorcycle Week.
There will be no shortage of memorial and charity rides including the brand new NHMS Motorcycle Ride to North Conway Railroad on June 11 and the second annual Speedway Children's Charities New Hampshire Chapter Motorcycle Ride on June 12.
The North East Motor Sports Museum, located next to the speedway's South Entrance and the new Flat Track, will be open 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., June 14-16 with several vintage flat track motorcycles added to the collection of racing motorcycles already on display at the museum.
