As New Hampshire Motor Speedway prepares for NASCAR to invade New England this year for its two race weekends on July 14-16 and Sept. 22-24, fans can already begin planning for next season. NASCAR released its national series schedules for 2018, which includes a summertime visit to New Hampshire Motor Speedway on July 20-22, shifting the race just one week later than in years past.
"Many of our fans like to plan their summer vacations around our NASCAR weekend, so being able to announce the date more than a year in advance helps them plan their trip to New Hampshire," said David McGrath, executive vice president and general manager of the speedway. "With our race date moving back one week, it's even more important to get the word out to our fans so they can start to organize a trip to beautiful New England."
The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series has raced at New Hampshire Motor Speedway since 1993, making July 22, 2018 the 47th visit to the track, and the only visit in the six-state New England region.
Speedway officials also released the schedule for NASCAR's XFINITY Series, K&N Pro Series East and Whelen Modified Tour. The XFINITY Series race, which was the first NASCAR series to race at the speedway on July 15, 1990, will run the 32nd straight race on Saturday, July 21. Adding to the event lineup that day will be the K&N Pro Series East and Whelen Modified Tour, rounding out another "Tripleheader Saturday" and marking their 63rd and 72nd races at the speedway, respectively.
This is the third year of a five-year sanction agreement with national series tracks, including all eight facilities owned by Speedway Motorsports, Inc., which includes NHMS.
